The Newborn Service Unit (NSU) at Chinese General Hospital & Medical Center is a 40-bed level 3 specialized unit whose highly trained and dedicated staff delivers care for premature and sick infants using modern technology with a nurturing touch.

The NSU, located on the 3rd floor of the hospital, is organized into different units that care for the smallest premature infants and infants requiring surgeries for major congenital defects, and a step-down unit for more stable infants recovering from illnesses and for premature infants who are getting ready to be discharged. Infants in the NSU are delivered in our own Labor & Delivery suite or at other area hospitals that refer their patients to us because of our specialized facility and staff.

A team of physicians, nurses, midwives, lactation support staff, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists, radiologists, chaplains and many more services work together to provide care to the patient, education and support to the family, and promote developmental and physical growth of infants in a family-centered environment. Families that potentially may have a baby admitted to the NSU are encouraged to tour the unit where they can meet the staff that will care for the baby, learn about equipment and procedures, understand the visiting policies and have an opportunity to ask questions before the baby is born.

We are committed to excellent and compassionate care, and our services are designed with both the patient and the family in mind.
