The section of ulrasonography offers comprehensive, sonographic imaging examinations interpreted by a competent team of radiologists duly accredited by the Philippine college of radiology and the Ultrasound Society of the Philippines.Our ultrasound machines include a GE logiq 7 and GE logiq 9 machine, including a portable GE logiq book for examinations done outside the department. The ultrasound department is open from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays to Saturdays and offers the following examinations:
1. Whole abdomen
2. Partial studies of the abdomen
i. Hepatobiliary tree (includes liver, pancreas, gallbladder and biliary tree
ii. Upper abdomen (includes hepatobiliary tree and spleen
iii. Lower abdomen (includes uterus and ovaries/prostate and urinary bladder)
iv. Kidney and urinary bladder
3. Thyroid
4. Breast
5. Gynecologic Examination
i. Transvaginal or transabdominal ultrasound of the pelvis
ii. Biophysical Profile with Sex determination
6. Chest sonogram
7. Intracranial sonogram
8. Testicular ultrasound – with or without Doppler
Special procedures performed include:
1. Ultrasound guided biopsy
2. Thoracentesis
3. Paracentesis
Preparation for sonographic examination:
1. Whole abdomen/ Upper abdomen - 8 hours fasting , from 12 AM to 8 AM ( 6 hours for 6 years and below)
2. Lower abdomen and pelvis - full bladder
3. Trans-rectal examination - Bowel preparation, Take 2 tablets of bisacodyl before bedtime
